General Dynamics selects GuardianEdge

GuardianEdge has announced that General Dynamics has selected its solutions to protect proprietary information on company laptops and removable storage devices, and protect customer data including sensitive U.S. Department of Defense information. With GuardianEdge, General Dynamics can secure company laptops and removable storage devices by preventing the accidental transfer of sensitive or confidential data to unauthorized devices such as iPods, CD, DVDs and USB thumb drives, or ensuring the data is encrypted.

General Dynamics, headquartered in Falls Church, Va. is a market leader in business aviation; land and expeditionary combat systems, armaments and munitions; shipbuilding and marine systems; and information systems and technologies. The company's customers include the US government agencies and enterprise organizations charged with ensuring national security and military operations. This makes the protection of customer information contained on organizational laptops and removable media devices critical.

"Many of our customers work directly on matters of national security. In the event a laptop or removable storage device is lost or stolen, it is critical that we enable them to demonstrate that the intellectual property contained on that device is secure. GuardianEdge helps General Dynamics address data security concerns and meet strict internal security requirements through a comprehensive set of solutions that deliver strong, centrally managed data protection," said Ram Krishnan, senior vice president of products and marketing at GuardianEdge. "The deployment of GuardianEdge encryption security is also easy to operate, as it integrates with the existing General Dynamics management infrastructure."

To safeguard against data leakage, GuardianEdge prevents data loss by enabling organizations to maximize the business and productivity benefits of using removable storage devices and removable media while minimizing risks to data security. It enforces the encryption of critical information upon transfer to removable media devices or formats without extra steps, and also supports CD/DVD encryption, one-to-many file distribution with self-extracting files and is 256 bit AES FIPS 140-2 compliant. When these two solutions are combined, data transfer to unauthorized devices is prevented, and transferred data is protected via encryption that keeps information secure, even if a device is lost or stolen.
